Modifying documents for review

The prepareDocumentForReview process is used to create the document that is displayed to reviewers and approvers. The process provides the following functions:
  • Adds a footer.pdf (final comment sheet) to the document

  • Attaches review tracking sheet and approval routing slip as required as attachment to the review document.

  • When a client-side digital signature is required, a signature sheet is added to the document. Any final comments from approvers are added to in signature sheet.

It is common for review and approval participants to use Adobe Reader rather than Acrobat. When you create custom processes to prepare documents for review, ensure that you applying usage rights. Usage rights allow users to add comments and sign PDF document with Adobe Reader. You can implement this functionality by using the Apply Reader Extensions operation provided by the Review Commenting & Approval Core service.
